Horses are so often nutritive to those humans who seek out their company. The work of my foundation honors and draws on the seemingly mystical nourishing quality of the horse. This nourishing quality allows bonds to grow between people of diverse backgrounds, serves as a balm for the disquieted soul, and somehow allows even the most lost to feel at home in their presence.
—Jane Karol

Our Program

Equine assisted psychotherapy allows the treating professional to incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches and models, each of which uses horses as co-therapists. Dr. Karol works one-on-one with her clients, in sessions that are often a mixture of talking, riding and horse care.

The Foundation's treatment program for children and adolescents helps them to manage issues like:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Affective disorders including depression
  • Anorexia, bulimia and related eating disorders
  • Anxiety and phobias
  • Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Grief and mourning
  • Low self-esteem
  • Separation and loss

The majority of the Foundation’s clients are referred to the program by their physicians or school counselors, or by other area mental health professionals.

Currently, the program is limited in the number of new clients it can accept. Please contact us for more information about the Foundation, its program, and the needs of your child or adolescent.
