Horses are so often nutritive to those humans who seek out their company. The work of my foundation honors and draws on the seemingly mystical nourishing quality of the horse. This nourishing quality allows bonds to grow between people of diverse backgrounds, serves as a balm for the disquieted soul, and somehow allows even the most lost to feel at home in their presence.

About Equine Assisted Therapy

There is a healing connection between humans and animals.

The healing connection between humans and animals has been shown in many studies to be more than accidental. Animal assisted therapy was developed from those findings, in a process that began over 130 years ago.

The use of animal assisted therapy has become almost commonplace today, and there are several equine assisted psychotherapy models in practice today. Most combine the talents of two distinct professionals, a horse person and a psychotherapist. It is less common to find programs where the equine professional is also a trained therapist. Equine assisted psychotherapy programs can be short or long term, and typically draw upon the body of knowledge found in traditional approaches to psychotherapy.

Like other respected treatment approaches, equine assisted psychotherapy aims to demonstrate and document clear, long-lasting change and progress in each client’s case.
